Rivalry Week Picks And Predictions

#28 Penn State (7-4) at #17 Michigan St (9-2)

The Spartans will be looking to do some damage after Ohio State handed them their manhood this week. Penn State’s passing game doesn’t look like OSU’s, so it won’t be a blowout, but it won’t be close, either.

Spartans 34 Nittany Lions 20

#73 WKU (7-4) at #71 Marshall (7-4)

You want points? This is the game for you this week. WKU has more firepower.

Hilltoppers 45 Thundering Herd 28

#3 Alabama (10-1) at #33 Auburn (6-5)

It’s hard to imagine the Tigers pulling an upset this time around, but they will keep it closer than most think.

‘Tide 31 Tigers 24

#29 Oregon State (7-4) at #16 Oregon (9-2)

There will be some upsets this week, and this is a good place to look for one.  The Beavers’ rack up yards better than any team in the Pac 12, and if you can score with the Ducks you can beat the Ducks.

Beavers 38 Ducks 31

7

#88 Northwestern (3-8) at #91 Illinois (4-7)

Brett Bielema does have the Illini heading in the right direction; this team was a train wreck in the beginning of the year.  They should roll over a bad Northwestern team.

Illini 27 Wildcats 13

8

#99 Indiana (2-9) at #25 Purdue (7-4)

It’s hard to believe the Hoosiers have fallen so far so fast.  The little brother hands the big brother an @ss whoopin this year.

Boilermakers 34 Hoosiers 10

9

#109 Vanderbilt (2-9) at #38 Tennessee (6-5)

The Vols end the year with two blowouts.

Vols 51 Commodores 14

10

#60 Virginia Tech (5-6) at #44 Virginia (6-5)

The Hokies won’t get to that .500 mark; no way they’ll be able to keep up with UVA.

Cavaliers 42 Hokies 24

11

#42 Minnesota (7-4) at #18 Wisconsin (8-3)

The Badgers look like everyone thought they would coming into 2021.  Their turn to serve as sacrificial lamb in the Big 10 title game.

Badgers 27 Gophers 24

12

#96 Tulsa (5-6) at #36 SMU (8-3)

The Mustangs will have some anger issues to work out after getting stomped by the Bearcats.  This one could get ugly fast.

Mustangs 52 Golden Hurricane 17

#94 ULM (4-7) at #46 Louisiana (10-1)

The Cajuns haven’t been impressive at times this year; they just win.  More of the same here against a surprisingly improved Warhawks team.

Ragin Cajuns 31 Warhawks 27

14

#114 Arizona (1-10) at #31 Arizona St (7-4)

The Sun Devils put up 70 in this game last year.  Shouldn’t be quite as bad this time around.

Sun Devils 38 Wildcats 17

#13 Texas A&M (8-3) at #49 LSU (5-6)

2021 was just a weird year for the Aggies, but the regulus season will end with a romp over a disappointing LSU team.

Aggies 42 Tigers 21

#115 MTSU (5-6) at #81 FAU (5-6)

Has anyone ever actually been to either of these schools?  Do we know they really exist?

Owls 24 Blue Raiders 21

17

#64 West Virginia (5-6) at #126 Kansas (2-9)

Here’s the best upset we’ll see this week.  After almost taking down Texas and TCU, the Jayhawks break through.

Jayhawks 34 Mountaineers 27

#11 Oklahoma (10-1) at #5 Oklahoma State (10-1)

After slipping past mediocre team after mediocre team, the Sooners finally ran into a good team and got exposed.  So no one should be surprised when the Cowboys turn Bedlam into an embarrassment.

Cowboys 45 Sooners 24

#14 Pitt (9-2) at #84 Syracuse (5-6)

No one saw the Panthers coming this year, and here they are about to pull off a 10 win season.

Panthers 49 Orange 17

20

#12 Kentucky (8-3) at #82 Louisville (5-6)

The Cardinals offense has had it’s moments in 2021… against this D this week won’t be one of them.

Wildcats 31 Cardinals 17

21a

#26 Clemson (8-3) at #48 South Carolina (6-5)

The Tigers looked dead in the water to start the year… now?  They look like an above average team that’s about to get knocked off by a surprisingly good Gamecocks team no one knows about.

Gamecocks 20 Tigers 17

23a

#10 Notre Dame (10-1) at #86 Stanford (3-8)

Has there ever been a less impressive team with a shot at the playoff?  Scrolling down the rankings, the first team I see that the Irish would probably beat?  UTSA.  And that would be close.

Irish 41 Cardinal 14

25a

#9 BYU (9-2) at #51 USC (4-6)

Not so long ago, this would have been must see TV.  Now it’s a resume builder for BYU.

Cougars 45 Trojans 24

26a

#80 Cal (4-6) at #32 UCLA (7-4)

Remember back in week two when everyone was on the Bruin bandwagon?  They’re still pretty good.

Bruins 42 Golden Bears 20

27a

#21 Wake Forest (9-2) at #52 Boston College (6-5)

The Deacons lost some of their swagger after laying a dud against UNC, but a 10 win season is still far more than was expected from this team.

Demon Deacons 38 Eagles 10

28a

#34 Texas Tech (6-5) at #7 Baylor (9-2)

Baylor Punches its ticket to a Sooner-less Big 12 title game.  Anyone see that coming?

Bears 31 Red Raiders 21

29

#27 Houston (10-1) at #130 UConn (1-10)

It’s UConn.

Cougars 63 Huskies 14

30

#79 Florida State (5-6) at #49 Florida (5-6)

Remember when this game mattered?

Seminoles 27 Gators 21

31

#55 Maryland (5-6) at #59 Rutgers (5-6)

This might be one of the more interesting games this week, even if no one watches it.  A matchup like this, you ride with the best coach.  Easy pick.

Scarlet Knights 31 Terps 21

22a

#103 Tulane (2-9) at #87 Memphis (5-6)

Another exciting game no one will see.

Green Wave 45 Tigers 42

32

#54 Army (7-3) at #57 Liberty (7-4)

Liberty was a bit of a disappointment in 2021; Army was a surprise.  Both trends continue; the Flames will fall to the Army option attack.

Black Knights 24 Flames 20

36

#63 Miami (6-5) at #85 Duke (3-8)

The Hurricanes get to blow out Duke to end a disappointing regular season on a high note.

Hurricanes 45 Blue Devils 14

38

#20 UTSA (11-0) at #97 North Texas (5-6)

The best team you have no idea exists is about to finish off an undefeated regular season.

Roadrunners 38 Mean Green 24

42

The Mountaineers are still the Mountaineers, and the Sun Belt is still their yard.

Mountaineers 38 Eagles 14

47

#8 Ole Miss (9-2) at #24 Miss. St (7-4)

The Bulldogs have gotten better as the season went on.  It comes to a head with a win over the Rebels.

Bulldogs 45 Rebels 42

60

#106 Colorado (4-7) at #15 Utah (8-3)

After a terrible start to 2021, the Utes look like we all thought they would 3 months ago.

Utah 34 Colorado 16

61

#67 TCU (5-6) at #35 Iowa St. (6-5)

The Cyclones were also a letdown in 2021… there was playoff talk pre-season.  A win over TCU will ease the pain a bit.

Cyclones 34 Horned Frogs 28

62

#53 UNC (6-5) at #23 NC State (8-3)

The state of North Carolina belongs to the Wolfpack in 2021.

Wolfpack 42 Tarheels 31

63

#45 Wash. St (6-5) at #68 Washington (4-7)

The fact that the Cougars are even in the Pac 12 title conversation is an accomplishment.  UW is probably the most disappointing team in college football in 2021.

Cougars 31 Huskies 21

64

#1 Georgia (11-0) at #101 Georgia Tech (3-8)

A warm up before the Bulldogs try to slay a vulnerable Goliath.

Bulldogs 45 Yellow Jackets 10

#2 Ohio St (10-1) at #6 Michigan (10-1)

I feel bad for Wolverines fans. They really think this is “The Year”. It’s not. The Buckeyes won’t do to the Wolverines what they did to the Spartans this week. Unlike Sparty, Michigan has a pass D. OSU will not win by 50.

Ohio State 45 Michigan 24

56

#47 Missouri (6-5) at #22 Arkansas (7-4)

Arkansas returned to relevance in 2021.  Missou is still a year or two away.

Razorbacks 35 Tigers 24

55

#4 Cincinnati (11-0) at #65 ECU (7-4)

ECU is the literal definition of a stumble game.  They can put up point is batches.  The Pirates end Cincinnati’s Playoff dreams.

Pirates 31 Bearcats 27

53

#19 Iowa (9-2) at #69 Nebraska (3-8)

The Hawkeys look like what they were all along.  Decent team. Good D.  Bad O.
