Head Coach: Mike Vrabel
The Titans not only returned to the playoffs a year after being a game away from the Super Bowl, they won the AFC South. The offense was unstoppable at times, but unfortunately, so was whoever their D was up against.
2021 Vegas Projected Wins:
2021 Draft Picks
1-22 CB Caleb Farley, Virginia
2-53 T Dillon Radunz, North Dakota State
3-92 LB Monty Rice, Georgia
3-100 CB Elijah Molden, Washington
4-109 WR Dez Fitzpatrick, Louisville
4-135 LB Rashad Weaver, Pittsburgh
6-205 WR Racey McMath, LSU
6-215 DB Brady Breeze, Oregon
Farley was a huge gamble based on a long history of injuries, but they made up for that landing Fitzpatrick in the 4th round. There are a number of likely eventual starters in the group, as well.
Key Pick Ups
Julio Jones – WR (from Falcons)
Josh Reynolds – WR (from Rams)
Bud Dupree – LB (from Steelers)
Janoris Jenkins CB- (from Saints)
Landing one of the best WRs of this generation and a solid #2 is kind of a big deal. Dupree should impact the D immediately.
Corey Davis – WR (to Jets)
Jonnu Smith – TE (to Patriots)
Adam Humphries – WR (to Football Team)
Losing Davis and Humphries is an afterthought with Jones and Reynolds on board.
Offensive Coordinator: Todd Downing
2020 Points Scored: 491 (4th)
So last year Tannehill put up solid numbers with a WR group that was average at best…. now he might have a top 5 group. Throw in a decent line…. oh, and the best RB in the NFL…. No excuse for this to not be a top 5 offense in 2021.
2020 Points Allowed:
A few players who are a step up were added, mainly Dupree and Janoris Jenkins. But the D will still be this team’s Achilles heel.
Brett Kern is one of the league’s better punters, but everything else is open to competition heading into 2021. More questions than answers here.
If Things Go Well
When you’ve got an offense that will probably put up 500 points in their sleep in 2021, it’s hard to imagine they’re not headed for the post season again. The D is the issue, but when you score like that you’ll win most of your games. Unless….
If They Don’t
… Unless, that is, the D is really bad. Which they very well could be. Most of the best offenses in the NFL found their way onto the Titans schedule in 2021.
The D is going to slow the Titans down, but not enough to keep them out of the post season. It could, however, keep them from repeating as division champs.
