Penn State Nittany Lions
2020 Record: 4-5
5 ⭐ ………. 0
4 ⭐………. 6
3 ⭐………. 10
The reality is that Penn State just isn’t Penn State any more. They’re still a great program, but they’re not a top tier team. They can’t sustain hits any more. 2020 was bad… the Lions lucked into playing 4 teams with luck worse than theirs to finish the season to save face, and built up stats at garbage time and against those bad teams, but it wasn’t good.
So Sean Clifford is the undisputed guy now. The line will be average at best, and there’s no reason to think they won’t struggle in pass protection again. There is talent at WR, but not a whole lot of experience. The running game will be decent, and the D will be at least average.
If Things Go Well
It They Don’t
The lack of playmakers at the skill position and a brutal 3 game stretch to start… Penn State will probably lose to Wisconsin and Auburn, and Ball State is no punk… if that happens and Clifford struggles, it could be a real nightmare season.
They probably split those first 4 games, but don’t be surprised if Ball State knocks them off. They’ll win the games they should, and probably surprise a mid level big ten team, but anything more than reaching the post season would be a surprise.
