North Texas Mean Green

2020 Record: 4-6

5 ⭐ ………. 0

4 ⭐………. 0

3 ⭐………. 18

Rank:  78

It’s not hard to figure out why the Mean Green were 4-6 in 2020. The offense led the conference in both rushing and passing, and was at times unstoppable. The D? One of the 3 or 4 worst in the country; there were high school teams that could have hung 50 on them.

The good news? The O will be almost as dynamic. The bad? The D will be terrible once again. Throw in a brutal schedule, and it’s going to be a long year.

If Things Go Well

When a team scores this much, there’s always a punchers chance. Northwestern State and Rice, and maybe a couple of stolen games from teams with bad Ds.

If They Don’t

The reality is there aren’t many Defenses out there bad enough for NT to outscore, and RIce isn’t a gimme.

The passing game may take a small step back, and that erases any puncher’s chance this team has.

  1. A real college football prognosticating magazine (Phil Steele‘s CFB) put 9 (nine) 2021 Mean Green’ers on his All Conference team plus…UNT had some very impressive P5 portal transfers. Not sure any of that group have been figured into the North Texas 2021 season. They & new Defensive Coordinator (Ex SMU head coach Phil Bennett) will get the Mean Green back to their winning ways. Seth Littrell’s offense will re-load & lead CUSA for the 2’nd year in a row. Note: A 4 star QB & 4 star receiver will be prominent in the turnaround & you can bank on it.
