Without the non conference schedule, Vandy didn’t even get the chance at a token FCS win, leading to a long, winless year. One silver lining: QB Ken Seals. His numbers were average, but that happens when you play for a terrible team. But there were signs of improvement, and even a few brilliant moments.
Clark Lea is the newest head coach to try his hand at Vandy. Will he succeed where so many others have failed? If so, it won’t be in 2021. The D was terrible last year, and lost it’s best pass rusher. The O will keep them in some conference games (maybe); Seals should improve, especially with a decent corps of receivers and what should be a good line.
If Things Go Well
Wins over UConn and Eastern Tennessee, slight upsets over Colorado State and South Carolina. Not another game on the schedule that’s even a maybe.
If They Don’t
Vandy won’t go winless again; nothing is a sure thing for them, but they should beat UConn and ETSU.
The Commodores will be the Commodores in 2021. There should be improvement, and there will be some games where they’re competitive, but this looks to be just another standard Vandy season.
