In a year where nothing makes sense and anything goes, we’ve reached the time where we begin to sort out who will land in the College Football Playoff! Here’s our “Official” take… your Week 12 College Football Playoff Power Rankings!

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

College Football Power Rankings 1 to 25

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

1. Crimson Tide (7-0)

Beat Kentucky 63-3

There will be plenty of debate on who belongs where in the rankings from #2 down, but there is no question who the best team in the country is right now.

2. Buckeyes (4-0)

Beat Indiana 42-35

The Buckeyes were not at their best this week. They gave up 5 sacks, 3 turnovers, and 500 yards passing. And still dropped 600 yards, 40 points, and beat a top ten team… a team with a good D. That this is still a growing team is scary.

6. Cougars (9-0)

Beat North Alabama 66-14

It gets harder each week to not include the Cougars in any legit College Football Playoff conversation. They won’t get there, but there will be at least one team invlolved that BYU could go toe to toe with.

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

7. Gators (6-1)

Beat Vanderbilt 34-17

You would have thought Kyle Trask would put up more video game numbers against Vandy; on a week where Justin Fields wasn’t elite and the rest of the top QBs were all off, he could have jumped from the perimeter of the Heisman conversation.

8. Cyclones (6-2)

Beat Kansas State 45-0

We made a some comments here a few weeks ago about the lack of D in the Big 12 and went so far as to say it barely registered as a P5 conference any more. A number of ISU fans took us to task on these comments. We stand humbly corrected on the first count. We aren’t ready to concede the second. However, we concede that neither statement remotely applies to the Cyclones. This didn’t even look like a top 25 team week 1; as it stands today this is a team that could go head to head with any of the likely playoff teams (aside from ‘Bama) and will surprise people when they comfortably beat the Sooners for the Big 12 title.

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

9. Sooners (6-2)

Beat Oklahoma State 41-13

The roll the Sooners are on doesn’t say as much about them as it does about the level of play for most of the Big 12. No reason to think the next two games won’t be similar. That pattern ends when they run into an Iowa State team that already beat them once in the conference title game.

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

10. Bearcats (8-0)

Beat UCF 36-33

The Bearcats survived their toughest test of the year, but we saw what we all suspected; this is not an elite team; just another bigger fish in a small pond.

11. Wildcats (5-0)

Beat Wisconsin 17-7

Here’s a sentence no one would ever have imagined 2 months ago: Undefeated Ohio State against undefeated Northwestern for the Big 10 title.

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

12. Hoosiers (4-1)

Lost to Ohio State 42-35

The Hoosiers answered any and all wuestions about their legitimacy; had they been able to find anything resembling a running game they would have beaten the Buckeyes.

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

13. Bulldogs (5-2)

Beat Mississippi State 31-24

There was a time when Georgia was in the playoff conversation. This week they were barely the best Bulldogs team on the field.

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

14. Trojans (3-0)

Beat Utah 33-17

The Trojans look like the best team in the Pac 12 in 2020… for what that’s worth.

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

15. Ducks (3-0)

Beat UCLA 38-35

The Ducks were looking to make a statement this week. They did. Unfortunately that statement was “We are slightly better than most of the Pac 12.”

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

17. Badgers (2-1)

Lost to Northwestern 17-7

The Badgers came crashing back to Earth thanks to that Wildcats’ D.

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

19. Cowboys (5-2)

Lost to Oklahoma 41-13

The Cowboys delusions of grandeur ended abruptly; Bedlam was more like Bed time.

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

20. Tigers (5-2)

Beat Tennessee 30-17

Can the Tigers add another epic chapter to the Iron Bowl history? It’s 2020, so don’t assume anything. Except that the answer to that question is no.

  1. This is a joke. Cincinnati beat a team that leads THE FBS IN TOTAL OFFENSE AND IF UCF WAS IN A Power 5 conference would have been in the top 20. Who as Iowa State beaten and the they lost to LA Lafayette. Florida wins by 21 over and 0-7 team and who have they beaten. This is all political. Who has Texas A & M beaten?
