NFL Power Rankings and Picks

Official NFL Power Rankings Week 8

1. Kansas City Chiefs (6-1)

Beat Denver 43-16

A cold and slippery day… and a day where Pat Mahomes was almost average… and the Chiefs still win by 4 TDs?  When you’ve got the D scoring, special teams scoring… that’s what happens.  It’s almost unfair.

2.  Pittsburgh Steelers (6-0)

Beat Tennessee 27-24

I won’t lie; Until this week I wasn’t buying in on the Steelers.  I was wrong.  There were times they looked dominant against the Titans.  They let them come back, and looked as bad late game as they did early game, but only one number really matters… 6-0.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈. 3.Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-2)

Beat Las Vegas 45-20

Remember a couple of months ago when we all thought the Bucs were gonna be scary?  Turns out they needed time to figure out who they were gonna be.  Like a month.  They’re scary now.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈  4. Tennessee Titans (5-1)

Lost to Pittsburgh 27-24

The Titans took everything the Steelers had and stormed back but got 2020’d when Gostkowski missed the tying FG.  Any doubts that this team is a contender are gone, though.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈 5. Green Bay Packers (5-1)

 Beat Houston 35-20

So maybe the Tampa game was just a bad week after all.  Even without Aaron Jones the Pack was dominant, notwithstanding a late flurry from the Texans and a good performance by Deshaun Watson.

7.  Arizona Cardinals (5-2)

Beat Seattle 37-34

People were writing the Cards off after they lost to Detroit, but this team could win the NFL West.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

8.  Seattle Seahawks (5-1)

Lost to Arizona 37-34

It was going to happen eventually; Russel Wilson can’t carry this team every single week.  Almost, as we saw yet again this week, but the simple truth is that aside from Wilson this is an average team and the D sucks.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

9. L.A. Rams (5-2)

Beat Chicago 24-10

A week after getting manhandled by the ‘Niners, the Rams took their manhood back by abusing Da Bears.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

10.  New Orleans Saints (4-2)

Beat Carolina 27-24

On a day full of outstanding QB duels this was another one; but in the end this one was decided by the heart of this Saints team… not Drew Brees, But Alvin Kamara.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

11. Buffalo Bills (5-2)

Beat New York Jets 18-10

This wasn’t as bad a game as a close score against the New York (High School) Jets would indicate.  They moved the ball, only one turnover… just an odd day where they couldn’t find the end zone.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

12. San Fransisco 49ers (4-3)

Beat New England 33-6

The way Shanahan has turned the ‘Niners back around is nothing short of amazing.  This team was dead in the water two weeks ago.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

13.  Cleveland Browns (5-2)

Beat Cincinnati 37-34

The second half was as good as I’ve ever seen Baker Mayfield, and he still wasn’t the best QB on the field today.  On the plus side, I’ll say again… when Chubb returns, the 1-2 punch with Kareem Hunt is going to be terrifying.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

14. Indianapolis Colts (4-2)

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

15.  Chicago Bears (5-2)

Lost to L.A. Rams 24-10

Now maybe Bears fans will stop telling me to stop disrespecting Da Bears.  I do respect that D.  The entire NFL does.  The offense, however, is garbage.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

16.  Carolina Panthers (3-4)

Lost to New Orleans 27-24

Teddy B and the Panthers went toe to toe with the Saints, but the lack of a ground game was more than they could overcome this day.  When CMC comes back, though, this team will at least be in that playoff conversation.

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

17.  Las Vegas Raiders (3-3)

Lost to Tampa Bay 45-20

The Raiders actually didn’t play badly; this wasn’t a post upset letdown.  This was just too much Tampa in the end.

18.  Detroit Lions (3-3)

Beat Atlanta 23-22

You have to take your hat off to Matthew Stafford.  Once again I have no idea how he got it done… especially with no running game… but once again he did.

19.  Miami Dolphins (3-3)

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

20.  Philadelphia Eagles (2-4-1)

Beat New York Giants 22-21

So the Iggles are in first place.  And at this point the hands down favorite to win the NFC East.  Which they will do by winning 6 games.  I love, love, love this division.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

21.  Cincinnati Bengals (1-5-1)

Lost to Cleveland 37-34

You gotta feel bad for Joe Burrows.  He has taken a bad Bengals team on his back and carried them… but yet again they came up just short.  The kid’s gotta win one of these damn games eventually.  No  way around it, though… he was sensational this week.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

22.  San Diego Chargers (2-4)

Beat Jacksonville 39-29

And the kid finally gets his first win… and looks damn good doing it.  The schedule is soft from here… this team could win 8 or 9 games.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

23.  New England Patriots (2-4)Lost to San Francisco 33-6After watching New England gobble up Super Bowls for 2 decades… I can’t say that I hate watching them suck.  Welcome back to the pack, guys.
Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

24.  Atlanta Falcons (1-6)

Lost to Detroit 23-22

… And so ends the Falcons winning streak.  After watching this game… it’s hard to figure how they lost.  The D wasn’t great, but made a lot of big plays.  Ryan looked like the old Ryan.  But when you’re 1-6… sometimes it’s just how it is.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

25. Houston Texans (1-6)

Lost to Green Bay 35-20

It seemed hard to believe the Texans were as short on the scoreboard as they were; Deshaun Watson actually played a h@ll of a game.  It seemed like he just made play after play… but yet again… not much help.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

26.  Denver Broncos (2-4)

Lost to Kansas City 43-16

The Broncos really didn’t play that badly; but when the best team in football is firing in all three phases of the game all you can do is duck and cover.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

27.  Minnesota Vikings (1-5)

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

28.  Jacksonville Jaguars (1-6)

Lost to San Diego 39-29

There are moments when Minshew looks lost, but there are also moments when he makes your jaw drop.  But having watched every Bolts game this year… I can tell you there are jaw droppers in every game.  In the end he may be as good as both Herbert and Burrow.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

29.  New York Giants (1-6)

Lost to Philadelphia 22-21

As bad as they are, the Giants are improving.  You had to feel bad for Daniel Jones… that ghost that tackled him is going to be making Youtube lists until he’s old.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

30.  Washington Nameless (2-5)

Beat Dallas 25-3

The Nameless ones are 2-5… and a half game out of first place.  That. Is. Amazing.

31.  Dallas Cowboys (2-5)

Lost to The Nameless 25-3

I’ve been watching football for a lot of years.  In all of those years, I have never seen a  bad team play as bad as The Nameless did and win by 3 TDS.  And with only one turnover.  The Cowboys have become inconceivably bad.

32.  New York Jets (0-7)

Lost to Buffalo 18-10

Guy walks into a bar with his dog, who is dressed head to tail in Jets clothes.  They sit down to watch the game. 2nd quarter, Jets kick a FG.  The dog gets onto the bar and starts break dancing.  The bartender, stunned, says “That’s amazing! What does he do if they score a TD?”

“No idea” the man says. “I’ve only had him for two years.”

NFL Helmets Edition.

Amazing designs and some not so good designs for NFL football helmets.
